I fly from Kansai International Airport (KIX) to Shanghai Pudong International Airport (PVG). I have already spend some time in Shanghai (上海市) in two other occasions. That is why today I will just spend the night here and prepare for tomorrow's trip.
I stop by Nanjing Road (南京路)—this busy, iconic street was one of the first places I visited in Shanghai. Though it’s been years since my last visit, little seems to have changed. I’ve never actually been to the city that gives the street its name. But that’s something I intend to change during this trip.
I take a short walk through Xinhongqiao Central Garden, conveniently close to my hotel. In the middle of the park, I stop at a small convenience store looking for something to eat. I run into a bit of trouble at the register, but the manager steps in to help. In perfect English, he explains that the store just opened that very day and they’re still setting up some of their systems. I wish them luck with their new business and continue my walk to the hotel.
It’s been a short day, but flying always takes a little extra energy out of me. So, I’m calling it already a day.
